ACP LYNDER NKURANGA APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR GENERAL NATIONAL INTELLIGENCE AND SECURITY SERVICES

RWANDA National Intelligence and Security Services (NISS) has a new Director-General of External Intelligence, ACP Lynder Nkuranga.

She is a polished officer who previously served in different senior positions such as Acting Director of Community Policing, the Deputy Commissioner for Public Relations, Media and Protocol, Director for the Anti-GBV Desk, with the latest serving as Commissioner for International Cooperation.

According to taarifa online,observers and fellow officers say she displayed excellent abilities and good working relations with team members.

In the wake of COVID-19, Nkuranga has been one of the senior officers working day and night in the fight against the pandemic.

President Paul Kagame is very keen on strengthening national security right from the family level.

“We need to provide and safeguard the security of our country and that of the nationals, for sustainable security and which will consequently lead to the development of our people,” Kagame previously said.

ACP Lynder Nkuranga comes in at a time Rwanda is faced with a myriad of challenges from neighbours.

ACP Nkuranga is expected to bring more muscle, innovations, and effectiveness in handling offshore threats and various challenges.

External wing of intelligence services performs a monitoring role to identify security threats to the general population emanating from beyond a country’s borders.

This wing also has an information-sharing role to perform with a variety of international partners. International sources of insecurity monitored by foreign intelligence services include organised crime and terrorist networks.
