The 27th World Travel Awards (WTA) has announced Serengeti National Park as the 2020 Africa’s Leading Nationa Park, by Diramakini Repoter.
Senior Assistant Conservation Commissioner- Corporate Communication of Tanzania National Parks (TANAPA), Mr.Pascal Shelutete revealed.
Instead of the traditional gathering of the Africa Gala Ceremony, the 27th World Travel winners were united virtually and announced on Monday November 9th, 2020.
Mr Shelutete said, Serengeti has won this category (Africa Leading National Park) for two consecutive years now including 2019 and 2020.
“Serengeti contested with other national parks in Africa namely Central Kalahari (Botswana), Etosha ( Namibia) Kidepo Valley ( Uganda), Kruger (South Africa) and Maasai Mara National Reserve (Kenya) and won,” He added.
Mr.Shelutete said, the Serengeti speaks for itself and with good reason, not only the famous event of more than 1.5 milion wildebeest migration through its plains and woodlands, but also unique landscape and other spectacular wildlife.
“Tanzania National Parks acknowledges the support from the Government of United Republic of Tanzania, the citizens, of Tanzania, tourism stakeholders and all those who took their time to vote for Serengeti as Africa’s Leading National Park 2020,” Said.
