Kuwait has halted all direct commercial flights from India due to a surge in coronavirus infections in the country, the Kuwait News Agency reported on Friday, citing a statement from the Government Communication Center.

The move, which was taken by the Kuwaiti Cabinet, has come into effect on Saturday (April 24) and will continue until further notice. It also bars the entry of travelers coming from India through another country unless they have stayed for 14 days in the transit country.
Kuwaiti citizens, their first-degree relatives, and their domestic workers are exempted while cargo services will remain unaffected, according to the statement.
