The President of Uganda, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has made changes in the leadership of the Uganda People’s Defense Forces. The changes come after Gen David Muhoozi, the formers Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) was given a ministerial role in the new Cabinet.
In the new changes, Lt Gen Wilson Mbadi has been appointed the CDF. Mbadi has been serving as the Deputy CDF.

Lt Gen Peter Elwelu has been promoted to the position of Deputy CDF. Elwlelu has been the commander of land forces. He is known for the 2016 Cases clashes. Elwelu is also representing the UPDF in the 11th Parliament.
Lt Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, formerly the Commander of the Special Forces Command (SFC), will now take over the roles of Commander of Land Forces, according to the new appointments made by the President, Kainerugaba will work with Maj Gen Sam Okiding who will be the Deputy Commander of the land Forces.
Other appointments include Maj. Gen. Leopold Eric Kyanda who is now the Joint Chief of Staff.(NTV).
