President Samia Suluhu Hassan has heard the call of Muslims clerics who demanded release of Uamsho (awakening) leaders Sheikh Farid Ahmed and Sheikh Msellem Ally.
Earlier this week, Tanzania’s Grand Mufti, Sheikh Abubakr Zubeiry and his Zanzibar counterpart Sheikh Saleh Al Kaabi submitted their application to President Samia Hassan and President Hussein Mwinyi asking for the release of religious leaders.
After reuniting with his family yesterday, Sheikh Farid has today expressed his gratitude to the Supreme Commander, H.E Samia and President of Zanzibar, H.E Mwinyi.
“I am very grateful to the President of Zanzibar and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Samia Suluhu Hassan, for their great wisdom in overcoming this long-standing dilemma, and in fact praying for them, may God increase their wisdom and goodness,” he said.
The report has been well received by some people online who congratulated President Samia.
“This information is very good, it is the light of justice available to all sheikhs,” tweeted Abdul Nondo, human right activist.
