"There are increasingly rumors and debates through various social media in relation to Tanzania position on ratification of the East African Community (EAC) and European Union (EU) Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) well known as the EAC-EU EPA.
In a statement issued by the Head of Government Communication Unit-Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade, Susan C.Mshakangoto today 15th, February 2022 said, the information spreading does not come from any official source.
"This public notice serves to clarify that Tanzania position has not changed, the information spreading does not come from any official source.
"Tanzania is currently working on outstanding attributes that led to Tanzania decision to decline ratification of EPA. In that regard, the Government continues to observe that resolution and will engage the EU in technical consultations to ensure that the proposed Agreement consistently addresses interests that are of benefit not only to Tanzania but for the EAC at large.
"The Government wishes to advise Tanzanians and the International community at large that Tanzania has not yet ratified the EPA and will issue an official statement on the status of the EPA when technical consultations are concluded,"the statement reads in part.
