SUPER Group-owned Betway, a leading international online betting and gaming brand, has marked one year since it officially launched in Tanzania.
During the event held on Wednesday, 27 July 2022 in Dar es Salaam, Betway unveiled exciting new offerings in the market including Betway Jackpots and a new streamlined betting platform.

Since its entry into the Tanzanian market, Betway has recorded a number of milestones including the renovation of sports facilities in need, the establishment of the Sports Experience Centre and forming partnerships with sports authorities and stakeholders to foster sports development in the country.
More recently, the brand has improved the overall betting experience by introducing optimised online betting services.
Speaking during the event that brought together more than 40 sports and gaming stakeholders, James Mbalwe, the Director General of the Gaming Board of Tanzania who was a chief guest at the event, commended Betway for the efforts to promote sports development in Tanzania and urged the brand to continue setting a good example for other betting companies to follow.
Furthermore, he welcomed Betway and other sports betting and gambling companies to support the regulator in implementing appropriate measures and policies to foster responsible gaming and social responsibility in the betting industry.
Mbalwe added, “The gaming industry is currently growing rapidly; in the past two decades of GBT establishment there has been an expansion in gaming activities including the introduction of sports betting.
"This growth has contributed to an exponential increase in revenue collection whereby the gaming industry recorded a growth of 20.69% in gaming tax collection from TZS 78.8 billion in 2017/18 to TZS 95.1 billion in 2018/19.
"This is a remarkable achievement that cannot be overlooked. Apart from that, the industry has created employment opportunities for Tanzanians, attracted direct foreign investment, and contributed to technology transfer in terms of sophisticated digital systems.
“We commend Betway because in a period of one year they have managed to set a good precedent in the betting industry by promoting responsible gambling, introducing advanced digital technologies and modernised environments, and most importantly contributing to the improvement of sports facilities. This is the way to go, we hope other betting companies will build up from here.”

Betway took advantage of the opportunity to introduce its new products including Betway Jackpots, a new simplified betting platform, new brand influencers, and a year-long campaign, Chomoka na Odds, that will have millions in prizes, including a home starter kit, to be won.
Commenting on the new direction announced by the brand, Calvin Mhina, Betway’s Country Marketing Manager, expressed his optimism, “Based on our market research and the experience we have gathered in a period of one year, we have come up with more exciting products that will be suitable for primary beneficiaries who are gamblers.
To start with, we have introduced a new simplified betting platform to enable gamblers to place their wagers hassle-free. We have also launched the biggest jackpot in the country with the grand prize of TZS 5 billion, to give gamblers an additional thrill of chance.
“Another big move that we have made today is the launching of a new and improved Win Boost product, which awards winners of Multi Bets with an additional payout, up to 700% their bet. We hope these introductions will create a better standard for the development of the betting industry in Tanzania,” added Mhina.
On the same colourful evening, Betway introduced two new brand influencers to promote responsible gambling awareness and the company’s products as a whole, Privadihno and Ambangile, both of whom are established sports pundits.
