BUJUMBURA-In a meeting with representatives of public sector workers' unions held this Wednesday at the Ntare Rushatsi Palace, the President of the Republic of Burundi, His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye called on them to increase production in order to succeed in the wage harmonization process.
During their discussions, the participants in turn took the floor to present their respective situations taking into account the categories of employees and the status reacting to each sector.
It has indeed been revealed that, in general, wage disparities have been reduced, although wages are not all harmonized.
In addition, the government of Burundi intends to put in place a salary policy by which approximately 94.5 percent of employees will be governed.
The Head of State has asked representatives of workers' unions to encourage workers to increase production, a solution that will help to eradicate wage disparities, he believes.
Recalling the vision project Burundi as an emerging country in 2040 and developed in 2060, he also invited them to work by projecting themselves into 2040.
"I recommend that you line up the civil servants so that everyone has an action plan to follow,"underlined the Burundi Number One, calling on them to manage the issue of salaries in transparency and telling them that their union duty is not not to promote strike movements but rather to increase production.(Ntare Rushatsi House)
