In 2017 and 2018 the Bank of Tanzania (BoT) closed and placed under liquidation the banks mentioned herein below and appointed the Deposit Insurance Board (DIB) as a liquidator. Following its appointment, DIB has been making payment of deposit insurance compensation to depositors of these banks up to a maximum of TZS 1.5 million as provided for by the law.
By this notice, DIB wishes to remind depositors of all banks under liquidation who have not yet claimed this compensation to visit any branch of TCB Plc (formerly TPB Bank PLC or Posta) for this purpose. FBME bank depositors should visit the FBME bank branch located at Samora Street, Dar es Salaam.
The list of depositors who have not claimed their deposit insurance compensation may be accessed at DIB website www.dib.go.tz via link https://www.dib.go.tz/public-notice/ for easy reference.
The required documentation for the claim process are a properly filled claim form;the account holder’s bank card; and authentic identification document of the depositor such as National ID, Passport, Driver's License, a letter from the Local Government Authority/Ward Executive Officer or Voter Identification Card.
Claim forms are available at all TCB branches and, in the case of FBME bank depositors,they are available at the bank’s branch at Samora Street, Dar es Salaam and BoT branches.
As some of the depositors have relatively small deposit balances compared to follow up costs, we advise depositors who are not sure of their balances to contact DIB from 8:30 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on working days. This exercise will be closed on 30th December 2023. DIB contact numbers for this purpose are indicated below.
