Riyadh to host Expo 2030

PARIS-In a historic win in Paris, Riyadh has emerged victorious in the bid to host Expo 2030, securing a resounding 119 votes in the first round of the voting process.

The announcement marks a significant milestone for the Saudi capital, solidifying its standing on the global stage.

The bid, led by Riyadh, showcased a compelling vision for Expo 2030, highlighting the city’s commitment to innovation, collaboration, and a forward-thinking future.

The proposed theme, “The Era of Change: Together for a Foresighted Tomorrow,” resonated with voters, underlining Saudi Arabia’s dedication to shaping a progressive and collective path forward.

This achievement reflects not only Riyadh’s capabilities as a host city but also the widespread international support garnered throughout the campaign.

The successful bid signifies a collaborative effort and strategic vision that positions Riyadh at the forefront of global events, fostering connections and dialogue on a grand scale.

In a press conference following the announcement of the voting results, the Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan confirmed that Saudi Arabia’s victory “carries a great indication of the Kingdom’s status and the international community’s confidence in it.”

Prince Faisal stressed that Saudi Arabia will present a version of Expo that changes the equations of international exhibitions.”

“Saudi Arabia is proud of the amazing success it has achieved and the confidence of the General Assembly.”

He expressed his thanks to the countries that voted in favor of Riyadh. He stressed that the exhibition “is not for Saudi Arabia alone, but rather for the whole world.”

“Riyadh has made plans for all countries to participate in the conception, planning, and implementation of the exhibition,” he said. (SG)
