DODOMA-This statement gives the evolution of the climate systems, temperature, wind patterns and rainfall outlook for June to August, 2024, including associated advisories and early warnings to various weather sensitive sectors.
It is important to note that usually strong winds, cool and cold condition dominate over most parts of the country during the JJA season.
The Outlook for JJA 2024 indicates that: -
a) Temperature Outlook
i. Normal to warmer than normal minimum temperatures are expected over most areas of the country. However, normal to cooler than normal minimum
temperatures are expected over the southwestern highlands and the southern region.
ii. Relative cool temperatures are expected to be more pronounced during the month of July.
b) Wind Outlook
i. JJA, 2024 season is likely to be dominated by moderate to strong south-easterly
winds over most parts with occasional southerly winds along the coastal belt of Indian Ocean and the hinterlands.
c) Rainfall Outlook
i. Occasional periods of rains are likely over some areas along the coast, northeastern highlands, and the Lake Victoria together with northern Kigoma
d) Impacts
i. Diseases related to cold weather such as pneumonia and livestock diseases may occur, though to a lesser extent.
ii. Dusty conditions driven by winds in some areas may cause eye and other related diseases.
