TANGA-The Mining Commission has been directed to demonstrate professionalism, unity, and solidarity to meet the ambitious target of collecting one trillion shillings for the financial year 2024/2025.
Executive Secretary of the Mining Commission, Engineer Yahya Samamba, highlighted this directive yesterday at the opening of the Commission's Management meeting in Tanga.
The meeting aimed to review the Commission's achievements for the year 2023/2024 and to establish robust strategies for the upcoming financial year.
From July 2023 to June 12, 2024, the Mining Commission successfully collected 703.94 billion shillings, representing 79.80 percent of the targeted 882.12 billion shillings for the financial year 2023/2024.
"For the concluding financial year, we have performed commendably in collections, a milestone not achieved before. However, we need to intensify our efforts to meet the Government's target of one trillion shillings for the new financial year starting July 2024/2025," said Engineer Samamba.
"Resident Mine Officers must be vigilant to ensure all potential revenue loss avenues are closed. Any revenue shortfalls in your region will be your responsibility, reflecting a failure to manage collections properly," stated Engineer Samamba.
Additionally, he advised Resident Mines Offices that did not meet this year's targets to improve their planning for the remaining period and the next financial year. He emphasized the need for creativity to enhance work efficiency, improve the working environment, and safeguard employee interests.
"We must ensure a balanced, cooperative, and harmonious atmosphere among employees at all levels. Unity and cooperation should be our cornerstone to achieve our set goals," emphasized Engineer Samamba.
