A MEETING WITH MARUBENI COMPANY TO ENHANCE TRADE RELATIONS AND SUSTAINABILITY OF TANZANIA COFFEE INDUSTRY THROUGH ELPS INITIATIVE

TOKYO-Ambassador Baraka Luvanda, together with a delegation from the Tanzania Coffee Board (TCB) led by Mr. Primus Kimaryo, the Director General of TCB, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Marubeni Company Headquarters in Tokyo.
The focus of the meeting was on the Enhanced Linkages between Private Sector and Small-Scale Producers (ELPS) Initiative - an initiative implemented in collaboration with the Japanese Private Sector (involved Marubeni and UCC Company), the Japanese Government, and the United Nations' International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

Its goal is to promote sustainable production practices within Tanzania's coffee industry as a PILOT country.

In addition, given that Marubeni is one of the Japan's largest trade companies with a strong presence in Tanzania in trading various food-related products.

The discussions further focused on strengthening and expanding the existing trade relations between Tanzania and Japan.

Both parties agreed to work together to ensure the mutual trade benefit and the sustainability of the ELPS initiative.
