HEALTH STKAEHOLDERS GATHERED IN ARUSHA TO DISCUSS UNIVERSAL HEALTH INSURANCE

ARUSHA-The symposium on Universal Health Insurance and National Health Financing Dialogue will be held consecutively at Arusha International Conference Centre in Arusha from 29th to 30th October 2024 and 31st October to 1st November 2024 respectively.
The two events which will be officiated by the Prime Minister of the United Republic of Tanzania, Hon. Kassim Majaliwa Majaliwa (MP) on 30th of October, 2024 will gather a range of experts from various fields to discuss appropriate strategies that will contribute towards strengthening the health system in the East African region and Tanzania in particular.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, EAC Secretariat and developing partners coordinated the preparations of these two events, Universal Health Insurance and National Health Financing Dialogue, which the later its convening is to honour the directives of the EAC Sectoral Council of Ministers of Health held in Dar Es Salaam in May 2024 and the resolutions of the African Union Heads of States and Governments Summit held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia in July 2019 that emphasized the proper investment in healthy sector.

On its first day, the participants of the Symposium had the opportunity to hear different presentations from healthy practitioners that were preceded by the remarks from the Chief Medical Officer of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Tumaini Nagu and Director of Policy and Planning of that Ministry, Mr. Amoury A. Amoury who introduced the objectives of Universal Health Insurance and the general overview and vision of Universal Health Insurance in Tanzania, respectively.

The other stunning presentations were Financing Universal Health: Exploring Innovative Strategies for Sustainable Funding in Tanzania; Role of Technology and Innovation in Improving Access and Efficiency in Universal Health Insurance; Enrolment and Re-enrolment Strategies - what works and what does not work.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation is represented by its technical team led by the Director of Economic Infrastructure and Social Support, Eng. Abdillah Mataka and on the Opening day, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation (EAC), Hon. Denis Londo (MP) will be in attendance.
