DAR-The government, through the Treasury Registrar Office, and the AMSONS Group, have agreed to invest $320 million (over Sh800 billion) to increase Mbeya Cement’s clinker and cement production capacity.
Briefing journalists here on Tuesday (October 15, 2024), the Treasury Registrar, Mr. Nehemiah Mchechu, said of the amount, some $190 million (about Sh513 billion) will be spent for setting up a new cement factory in Tanga and $ 130 million (Sh351 billion) for the expansion of the Mbeya Cement Company’s production.
He said the investment, driven by a conducive business environment created by the sixth phase regime under Her Excellency President, Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan, will see production of clinker, a significant raw material for cement production, fly by 10 fold.
