JUBA-(𝐓𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝟐𝟔𝐭𝐡, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒)-President Salva Kiir Mayardit has officially opened the 8th Governor's Forum and urged the country's leaders and stakeholders for their continued efforts on peace and economic development in the country.
The week-long event, brings together Governors from the country's 10 States, Chief Administrators from the three Administrative Areas, International Organizations, UN Agencies, and the Diplomatic Community together to enhance national cohesion and discuss pressing challenges facing the nation.
In his inaugural remarks, President Kiir drummed up support for unity and collaboration towards achieving lasting peace. He highlighted that overcoming the nation's challenges requires collective action and meaningful dialogue at all levels of Government.
The President reiterated his commitment to restoring total peace in the country, saying that his recent decision to restructure the Government delegation to the Nairobi Tumaini peace Initiative was aimed at swiftly concluding the peace talks slated to resume soon.
The noble forum held under the theme "Forging Sustainable Peace: Committed to the Extended R-ARCSS Transition," provides a platform for leaders and stakeholders to exchange ideas and strategies for rebuilding the country.
The South Sudanese leader directed the Governors and Chief Administrators to develop state economies by creating jobs for the young people, emphasizing innovation in attracting investments, igniting economic activities, and developing entrepreneurship among the people.
Besides this, the Head of State further took time to address the crisis at hand, as a result of the ongoing flooding in various parts of the country, calling for coordinated efforts from Government agencies, state leaders, and international development partners for immediate mobilization of resources in rendering relief to flood-hit communities across the nation.
