President Kiir discusses with Ambassador Selma over her candidature for AU Commission Deputy Chair

JUBA (𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟏𝐬𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒)-President Salva Kiir Mayardit received the Algerian Ambassador to Ethiopia and the African Union, Selma Malika Haddadi, who paid a courtesy call to discuss her candidature for the position of Deputy Chairperson of the African Union Commission.
The visiting Ambassador Haddadi is in the country seeking the President's support ahead of the African Union Commission elections slated for February 2025.

The Head of State welcomed Ambassador Haddadi into the State House and wished her well in her pursuit for the high-profiled AUC job.

The Algerian diplomat lauded President Kiir's advice, which she says is fully in line with the spirit of sisterly relations between Algeria and South Sudan within the framework of a common vision for cooperation, said the diplomat.
She also went further to highlight the momentum benefits from the President's experience, saying that such a move would strengthen not only the bilateral relations, but also immense contribution to her candidature with novelties within the perspective of the vision of South Sudan for African integration.

"I believe this would contribute not only to the strengthening of the relationship between the two countries but also, for me, as a candidate, to integrate the perspective of South Sudan as a member of the African Union," she added.

Foreign Affairs Minister Ramadan Mohammed Goc highlighted the commitment of South Sudan to the full integration of the African continent and promised support for such leadership in the revitalization of unity and cooperation in the African Union.
