JUBA-President Salva Kiir Mayardit hosted Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa at the Presidential Office on Monday February 24th,2025, marking the first official visit by a Patriarch of Alexandria to Juba.
The visit aimed to strengthen ties between the Orthodox Church and the South Sudanese people while promoting goodwill and development.
Patriarch Theodore expressed gratitude to President Kiir for his leadership in South Sudan's liberation and emphasized the role of faith in fostering stability.
"May God grant the people of South Sudan peace and prosperity, and may His love be among us," he said during a press statement after their meeting.
First Lady Mary Ayen Mayardit also attended the reception, underscoring the significance of the visit. The Patriarch highlighted South Sudan's rich Orthodox Christian heritage and pledged support for nation-building efforts.
